Halimun Choudhury

 

Halimun Choudhury has completed a BA and an MA degree in Sociology and Social Research at Goldsmiths, University of London. She works as a Research Officer with the Bengali Muslim community in the BeLiFs Project and has contributed to articles for the International Journal of the Sociology of Language and Anthropology and Education Quarterly. She has presented at the Linguistic Landscape Conference in Strasbourg, France and recently on Complementary Schooling in London.

 

She was part of the Our Languages project and worked to support, help and advice supplementary schools at the National Resource Centre for Supplementary Education (NRC). She developed a thorough understanding and passion for bilingualism during her position at the NRC. Halimun is currently doing her Phd on the Language shift of third generation Bangladeshi Muslim children and the effects on religious and cultural identity.
